Why poly wins for water trucks

Poly transport tanks are now the industry’s day in, day out choice for water trucks. While steel tanks have their place, customers consistently choose poly for the payload savings, the compact tank profile and the positive impact on the bottom line. Poly does not rust, which reduces maintenance, avoids corrosion-related downtime and extends service life.

Dial up hydraulic system options

While other dial up hydraulic systems may look similar on paper, we go beyond the specs to deliver systems that stand up to the job, day in and day out. National Water Carts offers flexible, high-quality dial up hydraulic systems tailored to your budget and performance needs.

Whether you choose a cost-effective fixed displacement pump or a smart load sense system with CANbus controls, you’ll receive expert engineering and dependable performance. This guide outlines the options available and highlights the benefits of upgrading to advanced intelligent controls.

Equipment made easy, backed by honest service that simplifies buying

In a competitive market, standing out takes more than price and quality. Knowing what you stand for matters too. While many in our industry have moved production offshore or been sold to multinational companies, we have stayed the course. Every one of our water trucks and units is built here in Australia by our team.

Used water truck fit-outs

New water truck builds are a core part of what we do, and so is fitting our systems to existing or used cab chassis. Customers come to us after purchasing a new or used cab chassis that suits their needs, or to repurpose equipment such as an ex-AGI prime mover or road truck that has clocked up kilometres. We engineer and fit complete water truck systems that turn these platforms into reliable, productive plant equipment ideal for civil works and hire.

Delivery Australia Wide & International

Our dedicated team, supported by a reliable freight logistics network, delivers units from metropolitan areas to the most remote plant operation sites nationwide. Where feasible, we also provide sea freight options to accommodate client needs.

Dial-Up Hydraulic Set Up Options

Fixed displacement pump – cost-effective & reliable (standard)

Owner operators & small teams (standard duty)

Ideal for owner-operators or small, consistent teams who will be using the equipment regularly but not in extreme or harsh conditions. As the primary users, these operators have the advantage of closely monitoring the unit’s condition, performing regular maintenance, and developing an in-depth understanding of the system from the time of purchase. This results in more consistent operation and reduced risk of misuse or neglect.

Load sense (variable displacement) pump – efficiency & control (upgrade)

Larger fleets, tier 1 & 2 construction or hire companies (heavy duty)

Ideal for large construction fleets or hire companies where equipment is provisioned to third-party operators or rotated frequently among teams. In these environments, operators often vary, and there’s limited opportunity for consistent, in-depth familiarity with the unit. These machines are typically subject to more demanding workloads, continuous use, or harsher operating conditions, making durability, simplicity, and ease of serviceability essential.

Smart hydraulic system with intelligent controls (CANbus)

• Load-sense control: hydraulic oil is delivered only when needed, reducing energy waste and preventing overheating.
• Automated adjustments: self-regulates based on real-time sensor data from proportional valves and actuators.
• Remote monitoring & control: settings can be adjusted from the cabin or remotely.
• Built-in dry run protection: pump shuts off when tank is empty.
• Built to perform: avoids common overheating issues found in older systems that circulate hydraulic fluid constantly.

System Features

Individually Operated Spray Heads

All of our spray heads are either valve- or air-actuated and can be controlled independently. This gives you the flexibility to operate them one at a time, run multiple simultaneously, or cycle through different spray options as you move across your site.

Australian-Made Water Cannons

Our cannons are Australian-made and available in a range of configurations, including electric, pneumatic, and manual models. They feature intuitive joystick control directly on the cannon, lockout zones for safe maneuvering, and variable spray nozzles to tailor output to your application. For added efficiency and visibility, we also offer integrated camera systems that allow operators to monitor performance from inside the cab.

Low Profile Truck Tanks

Choose from low-profile or super low-profile (limousine) truck tanks for your water truck. Each tank is fully baffled to provide surge protection and comes equipped with steel fill funnels with air gaps for hydrant filling. Alternatively, you can fill through the manifold system for standard suction. For advanced monitoring, CANbus units are available with integrated tank level sensing.

Effortless In-Cab Controls

Our in-cab control panels are mounted in the optimal position within your cabin, based on the layout permitted by the chassis manufacturer. Designed for safe and easy operation while driving, the panels feature an intuitive arrangement of rubberised buttons that illuminate when activated, along with a rotary LED dial interface on CANbus models. For cannon-equipped trucks, joystick systems are integrated into the cabin controls, providing a purpose-built solution for precise and effortless cannon maneuvering.

Easy Access Pipe Manifolds

Our water truck system pipe manifolds are strategically integrated above and below the chassis frame to suit their specific applications. Positioned at optimal operating heights, they allow plant operators to manage every aspect of the job with ease. Manual valves provide simple control over the main tank valve, suction valve, hose reel valve, and the separate suction and hydrant manifolds—making the entire system straightforward and user-friendly.

Pressure Washer Fit-Ups

A popular option among our customers is to equip their water trucks with a pressure washing setup, transforming the unit into a versatile wash-down system for all plant equipment on site. The system connects directly to the cartage tank and is powered by an outboard motor, reducing wear and tear on the chassis engine.

Powerful Spray Patterns

Our units are precision-calibrated for optimum performance, whether configured with a diesel or hydraulic setup. Each spray head operates independently, delivering the ideal pressure for reliable performance. With integrated rev control, operators can easily adjust spray power to match the required level of saturation, ensuring consistent results throughout the day.
